We are a welcoming, intergenerational community that enjoys spending time together, whether after church at coffee hour, at all-church dinners and picnics, at smaller, more intimate groups or working at one of our major fundraising events. There are many opportunities to connect with others at Second Parish.
Our minister, Rev. Stephanie Shute Kelsch, is available for pastoral counseling during the months when church is meeting. You may contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org or 781- 749-7177.
We care for one another as well, through good times and in times of crisis and sorrow. Whether you need a meal, a ride or just a listening ear, our Caring Connection is available. You may contact the Caring Connection if you need assistance or would like to volunteer at email@example.com.
There are many other ways to connect at Second Parish.
A women’s group meets on Monday mornings from 9:30 to 11:00. We enjoy each others’ company and catch up on our lives while we knit, crochet, and make crafts for our Christmas Fair. If you always wanted to learn how to knit, or just want to get out of the house, come join us! Children are always welcome—there is plenty of space for them to play, or they can help out on the projects.
A group of both men and women meet once a month in various members’ homes. There are many avid readers at Second Parish, and we are always reading something interesting. We welcome new members and new points of view. For more information about the book group, please contact Rev. Stephanie Kelsch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
One Saturday morning each month, the men of the church gather at the church in Cushing Hall. There is no set agenda, just a good meal and good company. For more information, please contact Lou Belknap at email@example.com.
Once every couple of months, the women of the church get together to catch up, usually at someone’s home. We invite you to join us for casual conversation and a simple supper.
These are dinners held periodically at someone’s home. It’s a nice way to learn more about each other in a social context with good food and wine.
We hold two major fundraisers each year. They are a good chance to get to know people better while raising funds to support the church and its many outreach projects.
The Second Parish Arts Festival is held for almost two weeks in early May each year. The show features artwork from talented area artists in many mediums including oil, watercolor, pastels, and photography and fine crafts ranging from decoy miniatures and jewelry to wood carvings pottery and lots more. A junior exhibit sponsored by Mass Cultural Council showcases local student artwork, from preschool to high school. As a part of this arts festival we have an opening night for adults and an opening night for students each with refreshments and live music, an all-age appropriate concert and a wine tasting. For more information about the Arts Festival, please contact Sandi Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In early October, our front lawn turns into a pumpkin patch. Children enjoy roaming the piles of pumpkins in search of the perfect jack-o-lantern. Then, on the third Saturday, we hold an old-fashioned church fair featuring unique handmade gifts, baked goods, Vermont cheddar cheese and the works of many South Shore crafters. This is a perfect place to start your holiday shopping and find special Christmas gifts.
