At Second Parish, service to our neighbors is part of our covenant. We look for ways we can give back to our community, with particular attention to ways young and old can serve together.
As a church, we provide space to the Hingham Food Pantry, which is housed in the lower level of Cushing Hall. On the Sundays before Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, we help organize the fresh produce distribution to over 150 families served by the Food Pantry. You are welcome to join us in this project, or if you would like more information on the Hingham Food Pantry, you may email them at email@example.com or call them at 781-740-8180.
Another way we give back to our community is through our Second Sunday Offerings. Each second Sunday of the month, our collection is given to a local service organization. We have supported the Diane Edson Fund at Wellspring, Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore, Father Bill’s/Mainspring, the Food Pantry, Domestic Violence Ended in Quincy, as well as several humanitarian efforts sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee.
At Second Parish in Hingham, there are many ways to serve and give back to our community.
Each May, on the Sunday before Memorial Day Weekend, the congregation meets at the High Street Cemetery for morning worship and to replace the flags at the gravestones of those who have served our country.
