Wissinger Organ Specifications
Opus 12, Darron Wissinger Organs (Portsmouth, New Hampshire), was installed in 1992-93 to culminate the celebration of the 250th anniversary of Second Parish. It was dedicated to the memory of Donald and Carol Robinson, a beloved ministerial couple who served the church from 1957 to 1977. Barbara Owen served as consultant to the church and as tonal finisher.
The Wissinger organ has mechanical key and stop action with 56-note manuals and a 30-note, straight, flat pedalboard. A mechanically-operated, balanced swell shoe controls shutters which enclose all pipes of the Swell Division.
Music is much appreciated at Second Parish and is an integral part of all of our services. Our choir is part volunteer supported by professional singers. In the early 1990s, our Wissinger organ, the first brand new instrument in the history of the church, was installed. The Wissinger organ has 17 stops, 21 ranks and more than 1140 pipes. In addition to the organ, we have two pianos, and often enjoy the talents of special musicians.
Second Parish sponsors a Young Musicians Program in partnership with local high schools that brings students to our church periodically to perform during the worship service.
We frequently sponsor concerts in our sanctuary, which is the venue for two performances each year by The Hingham Singers.
